tempus fugit
Der Sand, der aus diesen Gefäßen rieselt stammt vom Ufer eines Flusses in meiner Umgebung.
Das Wasser hat die Gesteine zu Sand vermahlen, und diesen an seinen Grenzen zum Festland abgelagert. Auch Ton ist verwittertes Gestein.
Ich habe den Sand in diese Schütten gefüllt und auch wieder ausgeleert. Gebrannt bei 1200° bäckt er wieder zu Stein. Dies ist eine Transformation durch das Feuer zurück in den ursprünglichen amorphen Zustand.
Tempus fugit ist ein Gleichnis über unser zeitlich begrenztes Dasein und die Zivilisation. Durch die Beobachtung der Natur zivilisierte sich der Mensch. Die Keramik war ein Meilenstein in dieser Erfolgsgeschichte.

The sand, that comes trickling from the pots originates from the bank of a river nearby my house.
The water has ground the rocks to sand and deposited on the riverside. Clay as well is weathered stone. I have filled the sand into these containers, „Schütten“, and emptied them again. Once fired with 1200° it is transformed back to stone. The fire has reset the material into its original amorphous state.
Tempus fugit is an allegory about our temporary existence and civilisation. Through the observation of nature, mankind civilized. Making pottery was a milestone in this success story.
